Flooding: Due to the flood waters that have severely damaged our Gilbert street building, we are currently conducting our therapy appointments out of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 8th Street, Coralville, Iowa, 52241.  Please call 319-351-5437 to schedule therapy appointments or with questions.  SEE MAP TO RIGHT-->>>

 

We also want to say a special thanks to those who contributed to relief efforts at the Children's Center.  At first we thought the Children's Center might escape the flood, but on Monday, June 9, the water continued to rise.  Joe Stewart of Iowa City and the Westport employees came to help sandbag, and within hours a barrier had been created around our building.  Waters continued to rise on Tuesday, June 10, and a second group of Children's Center families and staff came out on Wednesday, June 11, to build our sand brocade even higher.  Though the water surrounded our building on the eve of Thursday, June 12, we are hopeful the damages are limited, and that we will be operating out of our Gilbert Street location soon.

 

Thank you to every volunteer that helped us to not only sandbag but pack, move, lift, make phone calls and make this transition possible. We are truly greatful to each of you!

 

In the meantime, The Children's Center Staff, the generous Prince of Peace Church congregation and their Pastor Otto, are committed to continue serving your children and providing them with ongoing therapies. 

 

Thank you again for your patience during these transitions.

 

Our sincere thanks also goes out to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church who opened their hearts and building to the Children's Center.

 

Nonprofit Status: All of the paperwork has been submitted to create a nonprofit arm for the Children's Center for Therapy.  In the next couple of months we hoep to achieve nonprofit status and look forward to expanding the scope of our services to meet additional needs for children and their families.

About The Children's Center for Therapy

The Children's Center for Therapy is a community based outpatient clinic that incorporates fun and play into research based treatments. Through Social Skills programs, Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy services, our staff positively impacts each child's environment and daily life.  Our family friendly clinic provides services to children of all ages.
 

Therapy Services

Our training professional evaluate your child and create an individualized treatment plan designed to capture his or her interest and deliver the best results.

The therapist then works one-on-one with your child each visit to advance his or her abilities and provide new challenges and opportunities.

 

What can our services do for your child?

  • Advance communication and language skills
  • Address learning challenges (reading, writing,focus)
  • Learn new self care skills (grooming, dressing)
  • Develop coordination, balance and strength
  • Boost self esteem, self confidence and social skills

     

    • My child is receiving therapy through the school (AEA); what about your services?

    Research shows the more intensively a child receives therapy, the greater his or her achieved skill level. Your child may benefit from additional therapy that we can provide. Contact our office or talk with your child’s physician or AEA therapist.


    Do you accept insurance and/or Medicaid?

    Yes, we accept Medicaid, Wellmark, and other types of insurance
